“People are going, going, going, going, going, going and I’m strolling. I’m grateful for strolling. The freedom to stroll.” -Grant Higgins
This episode features Grant Higgins, a guitarist from Melbourne Australia that Robert met last year working aboard Quantum of the Seas. They seized the opportunity to record an episode before Grant departed for another ship contract. Grant is someone easy to talk to. He has a calm, constant, consistent demeanour that is open and friendly. Quite different to Robert in many ways, but again there is always that thread of sameness or respect people can meet at.
Grant talks about an array of topics, one being the truth of our freedom to choose and create our lives. Something he gracious gets to do everyday with minimal hours of laboured employment. It truly is our nature to do so and always a remarkable thing hearing when people find that equation to do so in their lives. He told a story about having the same experience, but 10 years apart. One when you are not cognizant and one when you are, leading to the self awareness to choose.
“I think the people that let you kick their asses you will be better friends with for a longer time.” -Grant Higgins
Grant is a believer in ‘touch love’, which Robert found interesting how it related to a major ‘Law of Attraction’ philosophy. To not keep ‘beating the drum’ of ‘what is’ and feeding the fire again and again of what you don’t want in your life. To cut it, stop it, shock it right then and there to stop and get perspective or move in a new direction.
“There are always little things wrong with my body, but I can always just read a book” -Grant Higgins
Grant also challenged Robert on the idea of having a ‘purpose’ in one’s life to be fulfilled and happy. He claims to not need or want a purpose, but to simply rise each day with a new clean slate; and to choose what to do depending on how you feel.
Grant set a few new records on the show, with offering the lowest number on a question, doing a 2 minute rampage, initiating a drum roll before spinning the ‘Quest Wheel’ and maybe even inspiring Robert with a new section of the show. Great fun, which is what life is about.
“Wake up your hero” -Personal Motto from Grant Higgins
The theme of this ‘WeeklyQuest’ is HOBBIES. To focus on something you have never tried before. To dive right on in, even if you expect to fail. Perhaps even do it because you are going to ‘fail’. Try your hardest at something and fail, then get over it. Give yourself a chance to get that tough love happening. even better if it’s something new and embarrassing in front of a lot of people.
